Take back control of your co-parenting communication.
BestInterest filters conflict, coaches your tone, and helps you rebuild calm — one message at a time.
BestInterest’s calling feature is designed to give you another safe and simple way to stay connected with your coparent. While we feel that coparenting communication is best in written form, we understand that sometimes a phone call is necessary—especially in emergencies.
At this time, calling is available only in Solo Mode.
You are always in control of how calls work for you. If you don’t want your coparent to reach you by phone at all, you can Disable Incoming Calls in Settings > Calling Features.
Calls are not recorded, though we are exploring adding these features in the future. If you need to keep a record of important communication, we recommend following up in writing with a BestInterest message.
The BestInterest calling feature is intended for emergency calling only and is included for free in your subscription. To keep the focus on structured communication, it is limited to:
When your coparent calls beyond this limit, the system will simply state that the person they are calling is not available.
BestInterest calling is currently only available to parents using Solo Mode. This allows you to use your BestInterest number like a real number without needing your coparent’s participation in the app.
If you and your coparent both use BestInterest in Together Mode, we encourage you to continue using in-app messaging, which provides structure, AI moderation, and better documentation for family court if needed.
We’re actively exploring options like video calling and expanded call controls.

Yes. In Solo Mode, you can make and receive phone calls with your coparent using your BestInterest number. This keeps your real number private while still acting like a real phone line.
When your coparent dials your BestInterest number, the call will show as coming from your BestInterest phone number on your phone. If you answer, and you confirm you would like to accept the call, you’ll be directly connected to your coparent.
No. It will appear as if your number is a typical cell phone number that can receive calls and messages. There is no voice mail service attached to your number. They will receive a message stating that the caller is not available.
Just dial your assigned BestInterest number from your phone. The call will automatically route to your coparent and they will see a call coming from your assigned number. When you call your coparent, they are not asked to confirm receipt of your call.
Yes! If you block your coparent on your phone, you will still be able to get calls and messages from them using your BestInterest number.
Yes. In Calling Settings, you can choose to Disable Inbound Calls if you don’t want to be reachable by phone. You can turn this back on anytime.
No. Calls are not recorded or transcribed at this time. For important logistics or court documentation, always follow up with a written message in BestInterest.
Yes. Calling is included in your subscription, but limited to 3 completed calls per month, up to 10 minutes per call. Once this limit is reached, if your coparent tries calling you, they will be told that the subscriber is not available.
No. In a true emergency, please dial 911 or your local emergency number. The BestInterest number can be used to call your coparent (or vice versa) in an emergency.
Right now, calling is available only for Solo Mode users. If both parents are on BestInterest (Together Mode), we recommend using in-app messaging with AI moderation and documentation tools.
We are exploring ways to enhance our calling features including video and transcription. Please take our quick survey.
