Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 17, 2026
1. Introduction and Scope
BestInterest, Inc. (“BestInterest,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at bestinterest.app and the BestInterest mobile application for iOS and Android (together, the “Service”).
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how and why we use it, when we disclose it, how long we retain it, and the choices and rights available to you. Our Terms of Service separately govern your use of the Service.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
The information we collect depends on the features you use. It may include:
- Account and profile information, such as your name, email address, phone number, birthdate, profile photo, and optional mailing address.
- Family and co-parenting information, such as a co-parent’s name and contact information and children’s names, birthdates, pronouns, schedules, and other details you choose to provide.
- Private content and records, such as messages and attachments, journal entries and images, calendar events, expense records and receipts, tasks, documents, parenting plans, call records and metadata, and other material you upload or create through the Service.
- Communications and support information, such as form responses, support requests, survey responses, and correspondence with us.
- Subscription and transaction information, such as your subscription status, product, transaction identifiers, and purchase history. Payment-card details are provided directly to payment processors and are not stored or collected by BestInterest.
Content you create in the co-parenting features is not public merely because you submit it to the Service. If you intentionally submit a testimonial, review, or other material for publication, we will handle it for that stated purpose.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect usage, device, diagnostic and error information, including:
- IP address; browser type and version; operating system; device type; app version; language and time-zone settings; unique device, installation, or advertising identifiers where permitted; and approximate location derived from an IP address.
- Pages or screens viewed; features used; links or buttons selected; referring page; access dates and times; session duration; and advertising attribution or conversion information.
- Crash reports, performance information, error logs, and related technical context used to diagnose failures, maintain security, and improve the Service.
- Cookies, pixels, tags, software development kits, and browser storage as described in Website Cookies and Similar Technologies.
Location data and device permissions
With your device permission, the mobile application may access precise location for location-based features; the camera or photo library for attachments; the microphone for audio and video calls; notifications; and Bluetooth or local-network capabilities used in connection with calling and device features. The application may also use your device’s biometric authentication result, such as Face ID, to protect access without receiving or storing your biometric template.
You can grant, deny, or withdraw these permissions through your device settings. Some features will not work without the permissions they require.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information:
- directly from you when you create an account, use a feature, or contact us;
- automatically from your browser, device, and use of the Service;
- from a co-parent or another user who invites you or provides information as part of the Service;
- from service providers, app stores, payment processors, analytics providers, and advertising or attribution partners; and
- with your direction or consent from other sources.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- provide, personalize, maintain, and secure the Service;
- create and administer accounts, subscriptions, co-parenting records, communications, reports, and requested features;
- provide requested AI-assisted communication, filtering, coaching, or other features when you choose to use them;
- process transactions and send account, subscription, and service notices;
- respond to support requests and communicate with you;
- monitor performance, analyze use, diagnose errors, conduct research, and improve the Service;
- detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues;
- measure marketing and advertising performance and, where permitted, create or use advertising audiences;
- send newsletters or promotional communications, subject to your choices and applicable law;
- comply with law and enforce our agreements and policies; and
- carry out another purpose disclosed when the information is collected.
5. Legal Bases for Processing
Where the laws of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction require a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Performance of a contract, when processing is necessary to provide the Service you request or take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- Legitimate interests, such as securing and improving the Service, responding to support requests, preventing fraud, and understanding use of our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent, when we ask for it, such as for certain marketing communications, optional device permissions, or optional processing.
- Legal obligations, when processing is necessary to comply with laws, regulations, court orders, or valid legal process.
6. Website Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website and its service providers use cookies, pixels, tags, scripts, and local storage to operate forms, understand website use, measure advertising performance, and support conversion measurement and remarketing. The specific technologies used can change as providers update their services.
We use Google’s Advanced Consent Mode. Analytics and advertising storage are denied unless you enable them through our cookie choices. While those settings are denied, Google tags may send cookieless measurement signals that include basic browser, device, request, and interaction information. Google may use these limited signals for aggregate measurement and modeled usage or conversions. If you consent, the corresponding cookies and identifiers may be used for the purposes described below.
| Technology | Provider and purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
bestinterest_cookie_consent | BestInterest local storage used to remember your analytics and advertising choices in this browser. | Six months, unless you change or clear your choice sooner. |
_ga, _ga_EYJBFSMCPP | Google Analytics cookies used to distinguish visitors and understand website traffic, sessions, and interactions. | Up to 2 years, subject to browser and provider settings. |
_gcl_au, _gcl_ls | Google Ads cookie and local-storage identifiers used for advertising attribution, conversion measurement, and remarketing. | Typically up to 90 days. |
test_cookie | DoubleClick cookie used to determine whether the browser supports cookies in connection with Google advertising services. | Typically about 15 minutes. |
XSRF-TOKEN, deftforms_session | Deftform security and session cookies used when website forms are loaded or submitted. | Typically about 2 hours. |
loops-form-timestamp | BestInterest browser storage used to prevent accidental duplicate Loops form submissions. | Operational for about 60 seconds; the stored value may remain until cleared by the browser. |
| Provider-controlled cookies or storage | YouTube and Google Maps may use their own technologies after embedded content is loaded or you interact with it. | Determined by the provider and your settings. |
Use the Cookie settings link in the website footer to accept, reject, or change analytics and advertising choices at any time. You can also block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Blocking these technologies can affect website forms, embedded content, or other features. You can also manage Google advertising preferences at Google Ads Settings and install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. These controls are provided by third parties, and their availability and operation are governed by those providers.
7. Analytics and Advertising Measurement
Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand website traffic and Firebase Analytics to understand how the mobile application is used. These services may process browser or device information, interactions, pages or screens viewed, identifiers, and approximate location derived from an IP address. Our website also uses Google Ads tags, and Google Analytics and Google Ads may use first-party and third-party identifiers together for conversion measurement and remarketing.
For more information, review the Google Privacy Policy and Google Analytics data safeguards.
Mobile analytics and advertising measurement choices
When Share Usage Data is enabled in the BestInterest mobile application, Firebase Analytics and Meta App Events may collect app interaction, device, attribution, and advertising measurement information. You can disable this collection on that device under Privacy Options by turning off Share Usage Data. This does not change how your account or messages work.
We use Google Ads and Meta advertising measurement services to understand whether campaigns lead to app installs, subscriptions, or other conversions. We do not use Google AdSense or AdMob to display third-party ads in the Service. For more information, review the Google Privacy Policy and Meta Privacy Policy.
8. Website Forms, Email, and Embedded Content
Deftform
We use Deftform to provide forms on our website. When you load or submit a form, Deftform processes technical information and the information you choose to provide, which may include your name, email address, phone number, uploaded files, and form responses. Review the Deftform Privacy Policy.
Loops
We use Loops to manage newsletter subscriptions, deliver requested resources, and send email communications. Loops may process your email address and subscription, mailing-list, and form-related information. Review the Loops Privacy Policy.
YouTube and Google Maps
Some pages include videos provided by YouTube or maps provided by Google Maps. When this embedded content loads or you interact with it, Google may receive your IP address, browser or device information, and information about the interaction. Review the Google Privacy Policy.
9. When We Disclose Information
We may disclose information:
- To service providers that support hosting, authentication, communications, analytics, advertising measurement, customer support, forms, payments, security, and other business operations.
- To other users at your direction, such as a connected co-parent, when necessary to provide shared features you choose to use.
- For legal and safety reasons, when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, valid legal process, or necessary to protect rights, safety, property, users, or the public.
- In a business transaction, such as a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate protections.
- With your direction or consent.
Service providers may process Personal Data only to perform services for us or as otherwise permitted by their agreements and applicable law.
10. Payments
Paid products or services are processed by third-party payment processors. BestInterest does not store or collect your payment-card details. Depending on how you purchase, the processors we use may include Apple App Store, Google Play, or Stripe. Their handling of payment information is governed by their own privacy policies:
11. Data Retention
We retain Personal Data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to meet legal, accounting, tax, security, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution requirements and to enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary according to the type of information, why we collected it, the length of your relationship with us, and applicable legal requirements.
Usage and diagnostic information may be retained for a shorter period unless it is needed for security, product reliability, legal compliance, or another legitimate purpose. Backup copies may persist for a limited period after deletion as part of ordinary backup and recovery processes.
You may delete your account through the application. See How to Delete Your Account for instructions. We may retain information after an account is deleted when required or permitted by law, including records needed to protect the rights of connected users or resolve disputes.
12. International Data Transfers
BestInterest is based in the United States. Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from those where you live.
When required for transfers from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we use recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, the United Kingdom International Data Transfer Addendum or Agreement, or another lawful transfer mechanism. We also apply appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to transferred data.
13. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect Personal Data. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affects your Personal Data, we will provide notices as required by applicable data-breach notification laws.
14. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your Personal Data; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; or opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, sharing, or profiling. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
To submit a privacy request, email support@bestinterest.app. Please describe your request and the account or email address involved. We may need to verify your identity and, where applicable, your authorized agent’s authority. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. You may also have the right to appeal a decision by replying to our response. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
In addition to the rights above, you may complain to the data-protection authority where you live or work or where you believe a violation occurred. United Kingdom residents may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
United States state privacy notices
Residents of certain U.S. states may have rights concerning categories and specific pieces of Personal Data, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-outs from sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. We do not sell Personal Data for money. Our use of Google advertising technologies may be treated as “sharing,” targeted advertising, or a “sale” under some state privacy laws even when no money is exchanged. You may submit an applicable opt-out request using the contact method above, use our Cookie settings, enable Global Privacy Control, and use the browser and provider controls described in the cookie section.
California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)
This Privacy Policy identifies the categories of Personal Data we collect, the purposes for which we use it, and the categories of parties to whom it may be disclosed. A link to this policy is available on our website, and changes are identified by the effective date at the top of this page. You can update certain information in the application or contact us to request a correction.
Browser privacy signals
Our website recognizes the Global Privacy Control signal and keeps advertising technologies disabled for that browser while the signal is active. Some browsers separately offer a “Do Not Track” preference. Because there is no uniform standard for interpreting Do Not Track, our website does not currently respond to that signal. You can also use our Cookie settings, browser cookie controls, and the provider choices described above to limit website tracking. In the mobile application, use Privacy Options to control anonymous product analytics.
15. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for account holders who are at least eighteen (18) years old. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data directly from children under 13 or permit them to create accounts.
Adult users may provide information about children as part of co-parenting features, including names, birthdates, schedules, messages or records, and other family information. This information is provided and controlled through an adult user’s account. If you believe a child under 13 has provided Personal Data directly to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
16. Links to Other Sites
The Service may link to websites or services that we do not operate. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to review those policies before providing information.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date above. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice through the Service, by email, or as otherwise required by law.
