Why is it saying that my coparent's number is already used?

If you and your coparent are wanting to use BestInterest in Collaborative Mode, the easiest way to do this is to go to Settings > Coparent Connection and follow the simple instructions to invite your coparent. There is no need to enter your coparent’s number when you’re using Collaborative Mode.

If you want to use Solo Mode (where you’re the only one using the app), and you get an error when trying to add your coparent’s number that it is already being used by another user, a couple things could be happening:

The Number May Belong to an Existing Account

BestInterest cannot automatically release a phone number that is attached to another active account or family. This protects existing accounts and prevents one parent from taking over another person’s number.

If you believe the number was entered by mistake or belongs to an abandoned test account, contact support. Include your account email, your coparent’s number, and the exact error message. Support will verify the account state before deciding whether the number can be safely released.

Your coparent entered their OWN number as their coparent number

This happens occasionally when a coparent is testing the app. If you and your coparent are collaborating, make sure that their coparent number under Settings > Coparent Profile is set to your number. Also consider switching to Collaborative Mode.
