Messaging: How To Use

Here’s a quick guide to help you understand and make the most of messaging in BestInterest:

Message List

This section displays the conversation history between you and your coparent. Messages from your coparent appear on the left, messages from you appear on the right. Each message includes:

• The text of the message as moderated by Message Shield. Tapping on the message from your coparent will open it in more detail, including viewing the original message.
• The date and time it was sent
• Any moderation flags like concerning, urgent, etc will be displayed here as icons.
• Images and files will appear here as an icon – to view them, tap on the message.

Search Bar

Use the search bar at the top of the screen to quickly find specific messages. More about search

Compose Message Field

At the bottom of the screen, you can type and send a new message to your coparent. Tap the image icon to attach an image to the message you send. Messages will be reviewed by our Tone Guardian before sending, and any suggested edits will pop up.

Navigation Bar

Easily switch between messaging, your co-parenting coach, educational resources, your journal, and your app settings using the menu at the bottom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are my messages moderated before being delivered?
A: No, if enabled, Tone Guardian will review all your messages before they are sent and suggest changes which you can either approve or decline. The message you send is the message that is actually sent to your coparent. If your coparent is also using the app in Together Mode, their Message Shield settings may modify your message before they see it, but they can always view the original you sent.

Q: How long does it take for my message to be delivered?
A: Messages are sent immediately, but sometimes may take up to a minute to be delivered over SMS (when in Solo Mode) or our internal network (when in Together Mode).
