Why would I need to export my message history?
Exporting your message history allows you to keep a record of your co-parenting communication for personal reference, legal purposes, or sharing with a professional such as a therapist, lawyer, or mediator.

How do I export my message history?
To export your message history, follow these steps:
- Open the BestInterest app
- Click on More > Message Export
- Optionally, choose a start and end date for your export. If you don’t choose a date, all messages will be exported.
- Tap export
How do I open the generated export?
Your messages will be exported in CSV format, which is readable by any spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Simply import the file into one of those programs to view it.
How long does it take to generate an export?
The time required depends on the size of your message history. Most exports are generated within a few seconds, but larger histories may take longer.
What does the exported file include?
The exported file includes:
- Both sent and received messages
- Timestamp of messages
- Original message as sent (not as filtered by the AI)
- If you flagged the message manually, the flag will be there
- If the message was flagged as concerning, the flag will be there
Is my exported message history secure?
Absolutely. The export is generated by your device and is not stored in the cloud. Please be mindful of who you share it with and never post it publically.
