Video Calling Options
Understanding Audio & Video Calling
Linked co-parents can receive in-app audio and video calls on the Free plan. To place a call, the caller needs Connect or higher. The recipient does not need a paid plan, and incoming calls do not use their monthly minutes.
Both parents need linked BestInterest accounts in Collaborative Mode, and each parent must turn on Allow Calls before they can receive a call.
Subscription Plans & Calling Limits
Calling limits belong to the person placing the call. A paid plan does not give the other parent outgoing minutes, but it does let that parent receive and answer your calls for free.
| Subscription Plan | Outgoing Minutes | Per-Call Limit | Receiving Calls |
| Free | Receive only | N/A | Included |
| Connect | 45 minutes/month | 15 minutes | Included |
| Protect | 200 minutes/month | 60 minutes | Included |
| Protect Plus | Unlimited | Unlimited | Included |
Only outgoing calls count against the caller’s allowance. Calls display a countdown as the per-call limit approaches and end automatically when that limit is reached.
Advanced Features (Protect Plus Exclusive)
Protect Plus adds optional documentation for supported in-app calls:
- Call Recording: You can choose to save recordings of supported in-app calls after acknowledging the applicable consent requirements.
- Call Transcription: You can separately choose to create transcripts of supported in-app calls.
- Account-Specific Controls: Recording and transcription settings depend on the Protect Plus account that enables them.
Safety & Boundary Settings (All Subscriptions)
Every linked account can control when in-app calls are allowed:
- Disable Incoming Calls: Turn off in-app calls without losing access to other BestInterest features.
- Allowed Time Windows: Set the days and hours when you are available.
- Boundary Enforcement: Calls outside your allowed windows do not ring, and the caller sees that you are unavailable.
- Call History: Supported missed, declined, and blocked call activity remains available in your call history.
