Request and Manage Parenting Schedule Changes

The short version

In Collaborative Mode, open Calendar, tap +, and choose Schedule Change. Select One-time or Weekly, enter the details, and send the request for your coparent's approval.

Schedule changes record temporary or repeating parenting-time adjustments without replacing the family’s base custody schedule. They are available with Connect or Protect in Collaborative Mode when both parents can create shared Calendar records.

Start a schedule change request

Use either path:

  • Open Calendar, tap +, and choose Schedule Change.
  • Open Settings > Parenting Calendar > Schedule Change History, then tap +.

If Schedule Change or the add button is missing, confirm that your subscription includes Connect or Protect, that you are connected in Collaborative Mode, and that both parents allow shared Calendar activity and schedule requests. An upgrade prompt means your current subscription does not include schedule changes.

Request a one-time change

  1. Select One-time.
  2. Choose the start and end dates and times.
  3. Choose which parent will have the parenting time.
  4. Select an optional reason and add an optional note.
  5. Add optional pickup and drop-off locations. You can select an approved exchange location or enter another location.
  6. If your parenting plan requires a direct trade, enter the dates and times you are offering in return.
  7. Tap Submit Request.

The request remains pending until your coparent approves or declines it. A pending request does not change either Calendar.

Request weekly parenting time

  1. Select Weekly.
  2. Choose the first date and the start and end times. The request repeats on that weekday.
  3. Choose Ongoing, or choose an end date.
  4. Choose which parent will have the parenting time.
  5. Add an optional note.
  6. Tap Request weekly time.

The complete weekly series is sent as one approval request.

Approve or decline a request

Open Schedule Changes from the system message or from Settings > Parenting Calendar > Schedule Change History.

The Upcoming tab shows pending and approved changes that have not ended. When a request needs your decision, tap Approve or Decline. Approval applies the change to the Calendar. A declined request stays in history but does not affect either Calendar.

If a pending one-time change reaches its start time before approval, it can appear as Expired. An expired request does not affect the Calendar.

Withdraw or remove a change

  • If you created a request that is still pending, open it and withdraw the request.
  • For an approved change, open its details and request removal.
  • If your coparent requests removal, choose Remove trade or Keep trade.
  • If you requested removal, use Withdraw delete request to leave the approved change in place.

Removing an approved weekly change applies to the whole series. In Collaborative Mode, the Calendar continues to show the approved change until the required removal is confirmed.

Understand Schedule Changes status

  • Pending: waiting for approval.
  • Approved: active on both Calendars.
  • Declined: rejected and absent from the Calendars.
  • Expired: the request was not approved in time.
  • Cancelled: withdrawn or removed.
  • Delete pending: a removal request is waiting for the other parent’s response.

Use the Past tab to review completed and inactive changes. Use Calendar History in Parenting Calendar settings for the broader log of schedule, event, exchange-location, and request-setting activity.

For the base parenting schedule, exchange locations, default exchange time, or blocking schedule requests, see Parenting Calendar settings.

Frequently asked questions

When does a schedule change appear on the Calendar?

A shared schedule change affects the Calendar after the coparent who did not create it approves it. Pending, declined, expired, and withdrawn requests do not change either parent's Calendar.

Can I request the same parenting-time block every week?

Yes. Choose Weekly, select the recurring day and times, and set it as ongoing or choose an end date.

Can I cancel a pending request?

Yes. Open the request under Schedule Changes and withdraw it before approval.

How do I remove an approved weekly change?

Open the approved change and request removal. Removing a weekly change applies to the whole series and may require your coparent's approval.
