Why can't I upload a photo, document, or parenting plan?
If BestInterest shows Upload Failed, cannot read a selected file, or cannot attach a photo, check permissions, file type, and connectivity before uploading again.
If a Photo Cannot Be Attached
BestInterest needs permission to access the photo you select.
- On iPhone, open Settings > BestInterest > Photos and allow selected photos or all photos.
- On Android, open Settings > Apps > BestInterest > Permissions > Photos and videos and allow access.
Return to BestInterest and select the photo again. See Why can’t I attach or send photos? for detailed steps.
If a Document Upload Fails
- Confirm that the file opens normally on your device.
- Try a common document format such as PDF, DOCX, TXT, XLSX, MP3, or MP4.
- Rename the file with a short, simple name if it contains unusual symbols.
- Switch to a stable Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection.
- Close and reopen BestInterest, then try once more.
BestInterest may show Could not read the selected file when the device or browser did not provide usable file data. Download the file to the device first instead of selecting a cloud placeholder, then retry.
If a Parenting Plan Upload Fails
BestInterest accepts parenting plans as a PDF or image. If your plan contains several PDFs, combine them into one file before uploading. For a scan or photo, make sure every page is upright, readable, and well lit.
If the plan uploads but is interpreted incorrectly, replace it with a clearer PDF or scan. AI-generated summaries can contain mistakes, so compare the result with the original document.
Still Having Issues?
Contact support and include the upload type, file extension, device type, app version, and exact error message. Do not attach private court or medical documents unless support specifically requests them through an approved channel.
