Key questions, answered

What is BestInterest?

BestInterest is our coparenting app for separated and divorced families, available on iOS, Android, and the web. It helps reduce communication conflict, helps parents follow court orders through AI-assisted parenting-plan review, and creates organized, verifiable records when documentation is needed. It brings messaging, calendars, tasks, expenses, journaling, calling, coaching, and records into one place, with tools for both routine coordination and high-conflict communication.

How is it different from familiar coparenting apps?

For professionals familiar with OurFamilyWizard, TalkingParents, and AppClose, our app provides the same structured coordination and records, with a key difference: active conflict reduction. Tone Guardian reviews outgoing messages in the send flow, while Message Shield reviews eligible incoming messages before they are presented. Together, they place BestInterest between a traditional coparenting app and the day-to-day communication guidance of a Parenting Coordinator. It is available continuously at a fraction of the cost.

How can it help parents follow court orders?

Parents can upload a parenting plan for AI-assisted review. We summarize key terms and help Coparent Coach reference schedules, responsibilities, and communication rules when questions arise. This turns the order into a practical day-to-day reference that can support better follow-through.

Can one parent use it alone?

Yes. Our Solo Mode lets one parent use the journal, calendar, expenses, tasks, and Coparent Coach without the other parent creating an account. With paid Boundary Line, the other parent can continue ordinary texts and calls without installing BestInterest. Both parents join only for collaborative in-app features.

What is free, and what can parents add?

Our Free plan never expires and includes messaging, a shared calendar, tasks, expense tracking, journaling, coaching, Solo Mode, and data exports. Paid plans add advanced conflict-reduction and documentation features such as Message Shield, Tone Guardian, Boundary Line, parenting-plan review, expanded calling and coaching, file exchange, Verified Reports, and supported recording and transcription.

What fee waivers exist?

We offer fee-waiver programs for Military, First Responders and Healthcare Workers, Financial Hardship, Domestic-Violence Safety, Legal Aid and Pro Bono, Existing Court Fee-Waiver Status, Family Reunification. Families can apply through a short, confidential application.

How are communication records preserved and exported?

We preserve all original coparent messages in secure, encrypted storage. Neither parent can edit or delete an individual message once sent, creating an unalterable, time-stamped communication record. Users can export messages, journal entries, calls, tasks, and expenses as CSV files. Paid plans also turn these records into structured PDF Verified Reports. Message Reports can include all original communication for a selected date range, with sender and recipient details and exact timestamps. A Certificate of Authenticity can include a Report ID and verification PIN, allowing the report to be compared with server-held originals. Our AI coaching, rewrites, filtered presentation, and tone tags are not included in court reports.

What privacy and AI safeguards apply?

We do not sell user data or show third-party ads. Users can disable anonymous product analytics and delete their account. Our AI reviews eligible drafts and messages while preserving the originals. Court reports include original messages and record data; they do not include AI coaching, rewrites, or tone tags.

How can it help in high-conflict and domestic-violence situations?

Our active filtering can be especially helpful for survivors and families navigating high-conflict communication. Message Shield actively reviews eligible incoming messages before they are presented, reducing exposure to harmful language while keeping the original available by choice. Tone Guardian helps keep outgoing communication calmer and child-focused. Solo Mode and Boundary Line support one-parent use.

BestInterest is not an emergency service or a substitute for legal advice or a trained and credentialed professional. Follow applicable protection orders and consult an attorney or domestic-violence advocate when making safety decisions.
